Tribute to Irish music and dancing I adore Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Celtic Women and the rest, I even bought a low D whistle last month (still haven't received it T_T). Anyone have some tips to play the whistle ???
As a step dancer, I love this picture. Her outfit is reminiscent of old time step dancing dresses. I like you work here because the colors and design are so lovely. I would totally where that! Also props for shamrocks in the hair.
Love this picture! Ive danced for many years and love it
Low whistles are (Ive Heard) harder to play than regular whistles. I myself do not have a low whistle but do have a regular one in D (actually I have 3!) They are a joy to play and I always find myself being asked to play for others As far as playing a regular tin whistle goes, its fairly easy, especially if you have previous music experience. There are many good tutorials on youtube.
Thank you ! I can play the low whistle now, with the right hands position (piper grip) ^^. But I still have some difficulties to handle my breath (my new alloy low whistle requires much more air that my previous plastic one). So I really enjoy coming back to my old tin whistles when I'm too exhausted XD.
tips! it's really easy ^_^ also, just play the first octave for awhile, then move up and do more when you play a new song, play it reeeeeaaaalllllllyyyyy slow until you can play through without messing up, then play faster until you get up to the speed you want sometimes you'll feel like you need to blow harder, that airs not getting through, and that notes aren't coming out at all right, blow softer, if this doesn't work, you've got a spit build up and it's time for a clean-up
Thank you very much for the tips ! I can play nice tunes now, but I still have difficulties to manage my breath correctly (I'm quickly short of breath...). I'm also having fun trying ornementations (slurs, rolls, etc) ^^. I like how they give each tune their "Irish" touch . Too bad I can't play for the moment (I have a cold ).
Thank you very much I'm not a specialist of dancing, so I was afraid there would be mistakes ^^ I'm so happy that a real Irish dancer saw my humble artwork! There are absolutely no Irish dancing where I live, so shows such as Riverdance is the only way for me to enjoy beautiful Irish dancing and music!
